Photo Assignments
Photo 1
The photos submitted for this assignment are intended for use in your first Soundslides slideshow. All of the photos must be about that one story.
The topic of this slideshow is campus life -- life on the UF campus. See the Soundslides 1 assignment for details. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS THERE.
You will also write a blog post about this assignment. See Week 7.
While you are shooting, NEVER ask anyone to do anything (to move or act or pose), and NEVER move or rearrange any objects.
Here is a short Photoshop tutorial.
Requirements
- Shoot specifically for this story only. Do not use any older photos you shot before this month.
- Select your 20 best photos. No more. No less.
- Avoid redundancy.
- The photos must be cropped and toned. Rotate if necessary.
- All photos must be saved as JPGs.
- All photos must have a resolution of 72 ppi.
- No photo may have a width greater than 800 pixels.
- No photo may have a height greater than 533 pixels.
- You are permitted to crop, adjust levels, dodge and burn.
- You are NOT permitted to erase anything from any photo.
- You are NOT permitted to add anything to any photo.
- DO NOT apply any Photoshop filters. None.
To submit your photos to be graded, create a new folder on your Plaza account. Name the folder "toolkitphoto1" and upload the 20 JPGs to that folder. Then send me the complete URL in an e-mail. If it were on my Plaza account, that URL would look like this:
http://plaza.ufl.edu/mmcadams/toolkitphoto1/
Please CHECK your complete URL before you send it to me. Make sure your 20 JPGs really are inside the folder on the Web server.

Grading
- 3 points: You have 20 photos that meet the criteria of this assignment; they are not redundant; they are all about the same story.
- 2 points: The width and height are correct, and the composition is reasonably good.
Total: 5 points

The photos submitted for this assignment are intended for use in your Soundslides 2 assignment. All of the photos must be about that one story.
The topic of this slideshow is the activities and purpose of a specific place. See the Soundslides 2 assignment for details. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS THERE.
The requirements and the grading criteria for this assignment are the same as Photo 1 (above).
To submit your photos to be graded, create a new folder on your Plaza account. Name the folder "toolkitphoto2" (note: 2) and upload the 20 JPGs to that folder. Then send me the complete URL in an e-mail.
