Attendance is not taken in this class and does not count toward your grade as a stand-alone component of your final grade. However, missing class meetings for this course may affect your grade, because you will miss information and instruction.

There are no excused absences.

If you missed it, you missed it. The material covered during class will not be reviewed or repeated. Please do not ask me to replay the class for you in a private performance.

If you know in advance you will miss a class, the best practice is to inform me as soon as possible so that I can make accommodations, if appropriate. For example, with sufficient warning, I could give you handouts ahead of time. You could also ask another student to take notes for you. I will be happy to give you the handouts after the fact, but if you don't have the handouts in advance, you may find you are not able to complete an assignment by the deadline.

Any work handed in after the deadline is graded as zero.

Structure of the course

We meet twice a week for only six weeks. Each class meeting is two class periods long. You are expected to arrive on time for each class meeting.

The class meetings are structured to prepare students to plan and produce an online media project and to provide immediate help to students who are working on a project. I am available to help you outside class as well, but in the first six weeks of the semester, the emphasis is on in-class interaction. After the final class meeting, I will be available for individual meetings during the same periods as well as by appointment.

Plan to make and keep at least two individual appointments with me after the final class meeting.

If you have any questions about the policies described on this page, I expect you to ask me for clarification.
