HOME CALENDAR PROJECTS READING ABOUT PROFESSOR

Professor Mindy McAdams

I have been working on the Web since March 1995, when I built my first pages with Notepad on a 386 computer. Even before that, I worked in online news -- as a content developer at The Washington Post's first online newspaper venture (called Digital Ink then), and as a freelance producer at Prodigy (an early consumer service similar to AOL).

My background was in print journalism, but I became interested in hypertext in the mid-1980s when I went online with CompuServe and started learning about link structures.

In the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida, I regularly teach four courses related to online journalism. Broadcast News and Online Media is the fifth course I have developed here; it is being taught for the first time in spring 2003.
